Voice Tracking
Pre-recording a host’s breaks so a show can air without the talent being live in the studio.
Voice tracking is recording the talk breaks ahead of time and dropping them into automation, so a shift airs as if live without the host physically there. It lets one talent staff multiple stations or dayparts and keeps a live feel on off-hours.
Well-executed voice tracking still relies on current, local, relevant content — the recorded breaks have to sound of-the-moment, which puts a premium on good prep.
