Daypart

A defined block of the broadcast day (such as morning drive or middays) programmed and measured as a unit.

Dayparts divide the 24-hour clock into blocks that share an audience and a purpose — morning drive, middays, afternoon drive, evenings, and overnights are the common ones. Each daypart is programmed for who is listening then and how they are listening.

Advertising rates, talent assignments, and content mix are all set by daypart. Morning and afternoon drive typically carry the most talk and the highest ad rates because that is when listenership peaks.
